The female entrepreneurs responsible for some of Europe's most innovative products are honored with the European Prize for Women Innovators. The prize recognizes women from all over the European Union and Horizon Europe member states whose ground-breaking inventions are bringing about beneficial changes for both the environment and humankind. The European Institute for Innovation & Technology, the SMEs Executive Agency, and the European Innovation Council jointly provide the prize. An impartial jury of experts selects each laureate of the European Prize for Women Innovators. The worldwide EU Horizon Europe initiative is responsible for the establishment of the European Innovation Council (EIC). The program, which comprises early-stage research, proof of concept, funding and scaling-up of small start-ups and SMEs, and technology transfer, has a budget of over €10.1 billion to support various improvements and outstanding advances in various areas. The European Innovation Council's strategy is directed by the EIC Board. Independent members of the innovation ecosystem, such as firms, investors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and other creative thinkers, are appointed to the EIC board.

The European Prize for Women Innovators 2024 is available to all women who are based in any nation connected to Horizon Europe or an EU member state. Every woman who has started an inventive business and registered it at least two years prior to the European Prize call. Only applicants under the age of 35 are eligible for the Rising Innovators category; there is no upper age limit for the International Innovative Awards. The international awards are divided into three prize categories. The most gifted female innovators from the EU and Associated Countries are given the Women Innovators Prize. The Rising Innovators Prize is an additional category that recognizes promising young innovators under the age of 35. 

The European Prize for Women Innovators will assess entries based on three distinct reward criteria. One is breakthrough innovation, which denotes that the applicant's company or organization is working within the EU or other Horizon Europe member states to develop a disruptive, innovative, and breakthrough idea. The other is called Impact; it is an innovation that addresses a genuine need or problem while also having a major positive impact on people and the environment. The final one is Inspiration, where the candidate should be a motivating leader who has made a major or crucial contribution to the company's or organization's success. The candidate needs to be a positive role model who encourages and empowers other women.

Qualifications for the 2024 European Prize for Women Innovators:

• A woman must be the applicant.
• Candidates may apply if they are citizens of an EU member state or a country associated with Horizon Europe.
• All women who are residents of an EU member state or a nation that is linked with Horizon Europe are eligible to enter the competition.
• Candidates must be the company's or organization's founder or co-founder.
• At least two years prior to the application call, applicants must have located and registered an innovative company.
• The EIT Women Leadership Prize category and the Women Innovators category have no age restrictions. However, candidates must be under 35 to be eligible for the Rising Innovators category.
• Only one category is open to applications.

The European Prize for Women Innovators 2024's advantages:

• The most gifted female innovators from qualified regions will receive the EIC Women Innovators Prize. The prize money for this category is EUR 100,000 for the winner and EUR 70.000 and EUR 50,000 for the two runners-up.
• Promising young innovators under 35 years old will get the EIC Rising Innovators prize. The first place winner in this category will get EUR 50,000 in cash, and the second and third place winners will get EUR 30,000 and EUR 20,000, respectively.
• Recipients of the EIT Women Leadership Award are outstanding female leaders within the EIT Community. The two runners-up will receive EUR 30,000 and EUR 20,000, respectively, while the winner will receive EUR 50,000.
• Every creative intellect will be acknowledged globally.
